Helen (Tenor)Jukebox - Helen - Debi - Dawn - BonComing out of quartet retirement after a 7-year break, Helen Giallombardo joined Jukebox in late December, 2004. She previously sang tenor in many different quartet combinations, having won Regionals and competed at Sweet Adelines International with Chicago Fire (as the original tenor), Midnight Magic, and The Tonight Show. She's served as Assoc. Dir. for the Windy City West and Melodeers Choruses and was Music Director of the Valley Lights Chorus before turning over the helm to Bon Pressley (little did they know at the time they would be eventually singing in a quartet together!). Helen has done just about every chorus administrative and volunteer job there is from making coffee for rehearsals and moving risers to serving as Charter President for Windy City West and on the Board of Directors for Melodeers, as well as being MDR for Region #3. Helen's husband, Jay, is a well-known barbershopper and a member of the elite "Double Gold" club having won International gold first place medals as both a quartetter (1979 SPEBSQSA champions - Grandma's Boys) and as a chorus director (New Tradition Chorus). As her "day job", she helps run their music publishing company while working part-time for a commercial real estate broker, as well as serving as music director for the annual jr. high school musical where her kids have attended. Their 3 teenagers are competitive gymnasts, and Helen and Jay travel with them to competitions across the USA. Helen also is in the custom scarf business and makes custom knitted scarves for sale. |
